Autism Awareness Fundraiser

By: Abby Giles

Autism is becoming more and more prevalent. This disorder now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys. It is one of the fastest growing developmental disorders in the United States. On average, autism costs a family $60,000 a year on average. At the moment, there is no medical detection or cure for autism. This disorder is rapidly spreading and people need to become more aware.

Being that April is Autism Awareness Month, Mrs. Harrelson introduced the “Shop for a Cause” autism fundraiser to our campus. Bracelets are being sold in three different styles. All proceeds will be donated to the HollyRod Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing care to those living with autism, as well as their families. This fundraiser lasts until April 30, so get a bracelet while you can! The three styles are the Wishing Bracelet (Elephant), Wishing Bracelet (Horseshoe), and Pave Wishing Bracelet. Each bracelet is $21.

To order a bracelet, see Mrs. Harrelson and get a form from her. Once you fill out the form, return it to her along with the money. The money goes to a wonderful cause, so buy, buy, buy!
