The Lee County Cross Country boys team has many great runners, but two freshmen have really stepped it up this year. Ben Phillips and Walker Pinson are both running sub 20 minute 5ks, which is outstanding.
What is your favorite thing about running?
Ben/ Being up front and receiving an award at the end.
Walker/ The feeling you get when you know you are getting towards the finish.
How long have you been running?
Ben/ 4 years
Walker/ 3 years
What is your PR (personal record) for a 5k?
What is going through your mind during a race?
Ben/ I only think about where the finish line is.
Walker/ “Whatever you do, work at it with your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,” Colossians 3:23
Ben and Walker went on to say that without their Coach Braden Miller, their times would not be where they are today. “We love our coach.” said Ben. They both gave much credit to him and thank him for helping them in their first year on the varsity team. Both boys plan on continuing to run throughout the next 3 years of high school and hope that their times drop and get better and better.
